Every year, as part of the Nottingham Riverside Festival, teams from organisations across the region come together for a special event – the Dragon Boat Challenge.

The DeltaNet Dragons entered with the aim of beating last years’ time. Primarily, we wanted to show our support for the excellent cause this event is held for: Rainbows Children’s Hospice, a Loughborough-based charity providing care for children with life-limiting conditions and their families.

We’ve proudly supported Rainbows for many years. As the only hospice for children and young people in the East Midlands, their services are vital. They rely heavily on charitable giving, and even the smallest donation can make a difference to the amount of families they’re able to help.

On a sunny August day in Nottingham, the DeltaNet Dragons put in a performance to be proud of. We didn’t win – or come anywhere close – but we managed to not capsize, and a great time was had by everyone. We also beat last year’s time by two seconds! Congratulations to HMS Sherwood, the worthy winners of the competition.

Most important of all, we raised £435 for Rainbows Hospice.
