In this short course, you will look at what, and who, a politically exposed person (PEP) is, the due diligence checks that you need to carry out before taking on a PEP as a client, and learn what red flags to look out for when it comes to new and existing PEP clients.
There are a number of multiple-choice questions throughout the course, tracked using a risk-o-meter. The course is marked on a complete/incomplete basis.

Included Features
Politically exposed persons (PEPs) are at an increased risk of bribery and corruption offences due to their authority and proximity to governmental and organisational funds. While most PEPs do not abuse their position of power, organisations within high-risk industries must be aware of the things to consider while working with a PEP as a client and ensure compliance with anti-bribery regulation.
A Politically Exposed Person (PEP) is someone who holds or has held in the last 12 months a high-up, public office position. This includes those working within non-governmental and inter-governmental bodies such as NATO and the United Nations, as well as those in more obvious government positions such as Members of Parliament. A PEP can pose a higher risk for potential involvement with bribery and corruption practices because of their position of power, authority, and influence.
Failure to perform due diligence and checks could result in prosecution, facilitation of other crimes such as money laundering and terrorist financing, and a poor reputation for organisations.
