Customs Declarations

Importing and exporting goods can be confusing. Customs declarations typically include an export declaration and a certificate of origin.

Our Customs Declarations short course explores these documents. It covers what they are and why they are needed, and the different kinds of certificates of origin: preferential and non-preferential. It also looks at the consequences if customs declarations are not filled in correctly.

The course explores the main topics relating to customs declarations so employees will be confident about why they are required and how to fill them in correctly.

Dangerous Goods Shipments

Dangerous goods are materials or items with physical and/or chemical properties which, if not properly controlled, present a potential hazard to our health and safety, our infrastructure, or the means of transport used to ship them.

This microlearning course ensures employees are familiar with and are able to recognise dangerous goods, as well as remaining aware about the potential risks of transporting dangerous goods. It provides an overview into the legislation imposed by Customs on dangerous goods and how to find out if your shipment is classified as dangerous or not.

Title Transfers and Incoterms

When drawing up sales agreements for international freight shipments, it’s important to decide on the appropriate title transfer, followed by the correct incoterm for the title transfer.

This microlearning course from DeltaNet International explains in a user-friendly and succinct manner everything your employees need to know about title transfers and incoterms. It will ensure staff are familiar with terms used by Customs and help ensure smooth delivery or receipt of items.

It is an engaging exploration of the processes behind transferring ownership of goods from seller to buyer. The responsibilities of both parties will vary depending on the incoterms chosen, so it’s important for everybody involved in importing and exporting goods to know about them.

Trade Controls

Trade controls are restrictions imposed on the transfer of items from one country to another by any individual, company, government or public body. They can help certain goods and technologies from falling into the wrong hands.

Our Trade Controls short course covers what trade controls are and their effects on companies exporting goods. It takes learners through the process of exporting, from deciding whether their shipment contains dual-use goods to completing a successfully international delivery.

Detailed Study Courses

  • Utilises what we would call a ‘traditional’ eLearning approach, meaning that learners are presented with the information then tested at the end

  • Information is presented in an interactive, engaging way

  • Longer, detailed courses

All Topics

Microlearning Courses

The compact and highly-relevant nature of microlearning combats increased distraction levels and is proven to increase motivation and knowledge-retention in learners.

We offer three customs controls microlearning courses to help your employees get up to speed when they need it most:

Customs Declarations

Dangerous Goods Shipments

Title Transfers and Incoterms

We also offer a main course on Export and Import Controls which covers all the above three topics and Trade Controls, in one single course.

Short Courses

Although originally introduced to regulate the overseas trade of military items, trade controls now also cover dual-use goods (goods that may be used for both civil and military purposes, such as software and technology). As such, it’s important for your employees to understand how trade controls contribute to international security, and how to obtain a license to avoid delays and/or fines.

DeltaNet International’s short course on Trade Controls clearly explains the ins and outs of international trade controls. The course is designed to raise awareness about your employees’ legal obligations in an effective and non-threatening manner.

Customs Controls refer to the various measures imposed by customs for importing and exporting goods internationally. They include such things as duties and taxes (fiscal measures), but also the security and safety of citizens, animal welfare, and environmental protection.

If you organisation sends and receives goods internationally, it’s important for staff to understand customs control measures in order to be safe and effective and not disrupt trade flows. Compliance with customs controls means that your organisation will avoid unnecessary delays and costs.

Our Export and Import Controls courses are split across four modules, each focusing on important areas of compliance in an engaging and easy-to-digest format.

The modules include three microlearning courses and one slightly longer short-course which focus on important areas of compliance your employees need to know about when importing and exporting goods.
