Hazardous Substances

Working with hazardous substances is a dangerous business. It’s vital that proper training is given to any employee who may be exposed to them. The range of substances classed as hazardous is vast and most workplaces will store some, even if they are not part of their daily work processes.

Our Hazardous Substances eLearning course is designed to help learners identify hazardous substances and the control measures to protect themselves and the people around them.

Our Hazardous Substances Online COSHH Training

The COSHH training online programme is designed to educate employees about the serious dangers of hazardous substances. By taking the course, employees will learn how to handle hazardous substances and spillages safely. The online COSHH training programme is split into three modules: the physical and environmental hazards posed by dangerous substances, what hazardous substance symbols mean, and what control measures can be put in place to prevent damage to health or property.

Is my organisation legally required to have COSHH training?

Employers are legally responsible to undertake the risk assessment or contract a professional to carry out a COSHH risk assessment in their workplace. A thorough set of guidelines to consider when completing a COSHH risk assessment is included in our COSHH training online programme.

Hazardous Substances Training FAQs

The Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) regulations was passed in 2002 due to the short and long-term health problems that exposure to hazardous substances can cause. COSHH regulations require employers to manage their workers’ exposure to dangerous substances to reduce the risk of harm.

Hazardous substances can take the form of solids, liquids, gases and fumes within the workplace. Under COSHH, substances are classified according to their risk as toxic, very toxic, corrosive, harmful, or irritant.

Organisations whose working environments involves hazardous substances are at risk. All hazardous substances in the workplace must be carefully assessed for their potential risks to employees. The aim of our online COSHH training programme is to ensure organisations have appropriate control measures where exposure to hazardous substances cannot be prevented. The main objective of DeltaNet’s COSHH online training programme is to prevent, potentially fatal, accidents from occurring.
