Social Media Awareness Training

It’s likely that a large proportion of your workforce use some form of social media on a daily basis. Although great for making personal contacts, social media can negatively affect your organisation’s reputation and employees can sometimes unknowingly risk their personal security or the security of your office.

It’s important that all employees understand the importance of the appropriate use of social media. Even well-meaning mistakes can damage reputations and security, so it benefits both individuals and employers for everybody to be in the know on social media.

Social media is a collection of digital communications channels focused on encouraging social interactions online. Be it online discussions on trending topics, following celebrity and brand accounts for the latest news, or sharing personal news and updates with friends and family. There are a variety of social media websites and apps which are hugely popular in today’s culture. These include Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, Twitter, LinkedIn and House Party.

A social media policy is designed to underpin the ways businesses and their employees are expected to conduct themselves online. A good social media policy helps safeguard a brand’s reputation and encourages employees to use social media responsibly. A social media policy sets out guidelines on the themes of employee access, conduct, enforcement, engagement and disclaimers.

For many businesses, it is vital to have a social media policy in place. A social media policy sets the code of conduct and a guidance for employees on how to use social media safely. A social media policy enables businesses to set expectations for appropriate behaviour online and to prevent any legal issues or public embarrassment.
