Safeguarding Adults (Awareness)

Anyone can be a victim of abuse and safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility.

Our Awareness of Safeguarding Adults course explores what adult abuse is, how to recognise the signs of abuse, and the procedures to follow to report suspected abuse of adults with extra care and support needs. It is particularly useful for people whose role involves meeting “at risk” adults, such as jobs dealing with the public, but it is important for all workers to be aware of this topic.

This course is suitable as an overview of the topic of adult safeguarding. For a more in-depth treatment of the subject, see our Introduction to Safeguarding Adults course (which includes our Awareness course as its first module).

Safeguarding Adults (Introduction)

When an adult is at risk of abuse or neglect, following the correct safeguarding procedures is vitally important.

Our Introduction to Safeguarding Adults course explores the principles and legislation around adult safeguarding, including when to report concerns to the local authorities. It presents three scenarios to show the safeguarding process in action.

Introduction to Safeguarding Adults includes our Awareness of Safeguarding Adults course as an introductory module. It builds on the knowledge gained in that course and is particularly useful for those whose role brings them into contact with “at risk” adults.

Safeguarding Children (Awareness)

Any child can be a victim of abuse or neglect. Working to safeguard them is everyone’s responsibility and knowing the signs of abuse is vital.

Our Awareness of Safeguarding Children course explores what child abuse is, how to recognise the signs of abuse, and the procedures to follow to report suspected child abuse. It is particularly useful for people whose roles, hobbies or volunteering activities bring them into contact with children, but it is important for all workers to be aware of this topic.

This course is suitable as an introduction to the topic of safeguarding children. For a more in-depth treatment of the subject, see our Introduction to Safeguarding Children course (which includes our Awareness course as its first module).

Safeguarding FAQs

Safeguarding is the act of protecting a person’s right to live in safety – free from abuse, harm, and neglect. Safeguarding practices apply to both vulnerable adults and children, although there are nuances in the best way to approach each instance that it’s nevertheless good practice for organisations to follow.

Legislation such as the Care Act has been put in place to ensure that organisations educate their workforce on the best way to recognise and prevent abuse, by developing effective safeguarding training and ensuring that all employees know their responsibilities when it comes to proper safeguarding practices.

Safeguarding Training

Every man, woman, and child has the basic human right to live a life without abuse. Sadly this is a right that millions of people all over the world are forced to live without.

We have a range of online safeguarding training courses aimed at protecting vulnerable adults and children. Our Awareness of Safeguarding Adults and Awareness of Safeguarding Children courses provide a basic grounding in the principles of safeguarding.

Our Introduction courses provide a more detailed exploration of safeguarding adults and safeguarding children. They contain our Awareness courses as their first module and build on that knowledge, looking into the relevant legislation and responsibilities around safeguarding.

All our online safeguarding training courses are available off-the-shelf for ease of use; we can also work with your subject experts to tailor the approach and information to suit your organisation’s requirements. Using the Adapt Authoring Tool, you can even modify our courses yourself to suit your needs.
