What is Whistleblowing?
Whistleblowing is the act of reporting or drawing public concern to a perceived wrongdoing (or some otherwise unethical activity) witnessed taking place inside an organisation (public, private, or third-sector). Common examples of whistleblowing include voicing concerns to counter fraud, reporting health and safety violations, or calling out about workplace discrimination. However, whistle-blowers may wish to highlight any number of violations and it's important that whistleblowing training is administered in order to allow them to do so.
Whistleblowing training is important for organisations for a number of reasons. For example, it protects and improves working conditions, conserves the company's reputation and property, and invites a culture of shared-vigilance when it comes to upholding the organisation's Code of Conduct. It's true, if your employees understand their rights when it comes to whistleblowing, everybody can benefit.
