Whistleblowing FAQs

It’s good practice to develop a clear whistleblowing policy where employees feel safe to speak up on issues they have concerns about. Our whistleblowing eLearning course provides training materials and clearly describes what constitutes and necessitates whistleblowing action and what the four stages of whistleblowing (decide, speak up, review, speak out) entail.

Our online whistleblowing eLearning course reviews the policies and legal protection for whistleblowers and demonstrates a realistic scenario whereby the Citizen’s Advice Bureau and the ACAS whistleblowing hotline is used to report an employee’s concerns. The course also offers a thorough breakdown of the difference between reporting confidentially versus anonymously, offers whistleblowing advice and displays the correct way for an organisation to respond to whistleblowing claims with a good resolution for everybody involved.

The global version of this course is available in 18 alternative languages.

All our whistleblowing training courses are available off-the-shelf for ease of use; we can also work with your subject experts to tailor the approach and information to suit your organisation’s requirements. Using the Adapt Authoring Tool you can even modify our courses yourself.

Whistleblowing is the act of reporting or drawing public concern to a perceived wrongdoing (or some otherwise unethical activity) witnessed taking place inside an organisation (public, private, or third-sector). Common examples of whistleblowing include voicing concerns to counter fraud, reporting health and safety violations, or calling out about workplace discrimination. However, whistle-blowers may wish to highlight any number of violations and it’s important that whistleblowing training is administered in order to allow them to do so.

Whistleblowing training is important for organisations for a number of reasons. For example, it protects and improves working conditions, conserves the company’s reputation and property, and invites a culture of shared-vigilance when it comes to upholding the organisation’s Code of Conduct. It’s true, if your employees understand their rights when it comes to whistleblowing, everybody can benefit.
