Can you hear the fire alarm? Looks like it’s time to evacuate the office.
In our Don’t Get Burnt fire safety short course, learners are challenged to make the correct decisions to safely evacuate the building during a fire alarm. They collect a safety token for each safe decision they make, ensuring they and their colleagues make it out in a fast and orderly way.
The challenge format makes the fire safety message engaging and accessible, prompting learners to translate the lessons learnt into the context of their own workplace.
Our Don’t Get Burnt short course is a single module exploring the processes to follow to evacuate safely during a fire emergency in the workplace.

Fire safety is everyone’s responsibility at work. Without proper fire safety training for employees, the risk of a fire starting and possibly injuring someone is greatly increased.
Every employee needs to know what to do during a fire. Fire emergencies can erupt without any warning and can often be very stressful events, so it’s important all employees are trained in advance. This can prevent panic from breaking out and ensure a safe, orderly evacuation from the premises.
The fire triangle is a way of picturing the three factors causing a fire: heat, fuel and oxygen. Fires needs all three of these to start and to grow. Workplace fire safety measures that remove or minimise one of these components will be effective in making fires less likely to break out and spread.
Fire safety in the workplace is everyone’s responsibility. Some workplaces find it helpful to choose designated fire wardens or fire marshals to lead the company’s efforts in fire safety. Legally, the overall responsibility for fire safety falls to the “responsible person”, be that an owner, facilities manager, landlord or occupier, depending on circumstances.
A fire warden is there to make sure the company’s fire safety rules are being put into action day-to-day. Their role is also about helping people evacuate safely in the event of a fire and ensuring everybody is accounted for. Fire wardens are an important part of an organisation’s fire safety preparations.
