Causes of fire

Workplace fires can be devastating. This module covers the common causes of workplace fires and how they start, with reference to the fire triangle. Understanding is the first step in preventing them from happening. The module also explains the roles of individual workers in fire safety.

Fire prevention

There are things we can do every working day to minimise the likelihood of a fire breaking out. When they do happen, using the correct firefighting equipment is vital – choosing the wrong fire extinguisher could make matters worse. This module explores how to prevent fires and the correct equipment to put one out.

Evacuation procedures

When a fire breaks out, it is of critical importance to evacuate the workplace in a safe, orderly manner. This module shows you how, providing lists of what you should and shouldn’t do in this situation, and explains the important role that fire wardens have to play in the event of a fire.
