This section will help you recognise confined spaces and why they are a health and safety issue. It will explain why confined spaces are a hazard to health and safety, and detail other relevant legislation.
This section describes an effective risk assessment process. It explains that work in confined spaces should be avoided unless there is absolutely no alternative and outline the role of the “duty holder” and/or employer in managing confined space work effectively.
This section details an effective emergency procedure plan. It will explore why they are necessary and some precautions to take when setting up emergency procedures for this work.
This section forms the scenario-based assessment for the course. You are in charge of the health and safety at a small brewery, which includes silos, tanks, and other confined spaces. You are taken to a fermentation tank that needs urgent maintenance. By completing a risk assessment, you can guide the contractors to complete the work safely.
The brewery (assessment) topic is a scenario-based assessment using multiple-choice questions. A pass mark of 80% is required to successfully complete the course.
