This course covers the main health and safety responsibilities that employers have towards their employees, particularly under the Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974. It breaks them down into simple to understand, practical lists, relating to areas such as insurance, training and facilities.
Employees’ responsibilities regarding health and safety in the workplace are explored, with particular reference to the Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974. These include following training as instructed and speaking out if their, or their colleagues’, health and safety is at risk from a work activity.
Do you know what the four main causes of accidents at work are? It is vitally important that all employees are aware of these so they can work with the employer to prevent them happening. This course also looks at the different types of safety signs and what their colours and shapes indicate.
Risk assessments are an essential part of maintaining good health and safety standards. They involve reviewing all foreseeable hazards and putting control measures in place to make sure that all employees are protected. This module explores the importance of risk assessments.

All employers need to conduct risk assessments and take all reasonable steps to avoid any accident, injury or illness to their staff.
