He has several meetings lined up as soon as he arrives, and he will soon be feeling the effects of a long-haul flight and not enough recovery time. This module covers the most common health problems work travellers can be exposed to and how to avoid them.

The Importance of Travel Safety Training

International travel is a vital part of many roles. It’s important to be familiar with the cultural, economic and political situation of the country you’re visiting and to ensure you have the necessary vaccinations and visas to enter. Though business travel can be useful, productive and fun, there are many possible dangers – making good preparation the key to a successful working journey.

Employers have a duty of care when employees travel abroad. Making sure they’re well-prepared for their visit is a vital part of fulfilling this duty.

If you have any questions that are not covered here, please get in touch.

You write a business itinerary by listing where you will be, your estimated arrival and leaving times, who you are meeting with and contact details for each point. This is a way of protecting your health and safety as much as scheduling – it allows people to raise the alarm if you haven’t reached your next stop.

You prepare for a business trip by making sure you have packed all essential items and have researched your destination. This includes making sure you have the relevant visas to enter and work in the country and that you are aware of any cultural differences you need to know about.

Employees can protect business travellers by making sure they are well-prepared for their trip. This might include helping them to write an itinerary, making sure they have emergency contacts and aiding them in getting the correct paperwork in order. Employers have the same duty of care to travelling employees as any others.
